craftyhunnypie
Hi everyone! I have a big dilemma! As you know my sister had 3 eggs in the incubator. All 3 have turned out not to be fertile and have now been disposed of. However, my sister was given 3 99% sure fertile bantam eggs by a friend who keeps & breeds chickens. I have no idea what sort of bantams they are. My sister just said bantams. I know the lady does have pekins - so they could possibly be pekins. But I don't know. However, my sister has now decided that she doesn't want so small eggs to eat - so she's not going to hatch them out. I however really want to hatch these out - it's my incubator after all. I do want some bantams for my mk2 - when my irlies move into there cube. But I originally wanted a mixture of pekins, maybe a seabright & a buff orpington bantam. So I am torn about whether or not to hatch out these 3 eggs. The lady will have any cockerels back if they turn out to be cockerels. So I'm not worried about that. I would need a lot of help from everyone here on hatching chickens / bantams. Only ever done goslings & guinea fowl! Do I hatch them or don't I? The eggs are small & white if that is of any help?? Oh help, what do I do? I think my sister is being rather rotten! Emma.x
Jaime
Hi - you could always give them away or sell them on if you don't get attached
Snowy
Go for it! You can fit a few more than 3 bantams into an eglu so even if all 3 are fertile and female, you will still have room to add the ones you want if needs be.
Lesley
Hatching hens is easier than goslings so I'd say go for it. At least you would have a home for any cockerels which is always the main problem.
