Alis girls
Ordered some for a couple of egg eaters and I also want to get more hens - question how long do you keep them on? Havent fitted them yet - not something I am looking forward too (read up on it and the Omlet bit on it) I thought I might do one evening when they are dopey and sleepy. Thanks Ali x
Beantree
They won't be dopey and sleepy for very long though Alisgirls. Best done in good light when you can see clearly what you are doing. Two person job, one to hold the bird wrapped in a towel (the bird, not the assistant), the other to fit the bit using a pair of external circlip pliers. Omlet advise two weeks maximum, but the shortest period we've had them on any bird is two months and the longest 6 months (wore two out). They do distort the nostrils permanently, which isn't necessarily bad as it just enlarges them. Just be sure they are fitted correctly, under the top beak with the ball ends firmly into the centre of the nostrils.
Alis girls
Visions of OH wrapped in a towel with a wilful hen flash before my eyes. Thanks Beantree.
paulad
Fitting them isnt actually as bad as you think its gonna be. Defo recommend 2 people though - I held hen in towel, hubby put them on We have had ours on for probably 3 months and are just gonna leave them on until they fall off and then reassess. Good luck
