Chicken boarding

Recommended Posts

Morning all :)

Well, after much stress and debate about an upcoming holiday in May and batting forth all the (limited) possibilities, we have booked the girls (5 Pekins) into a farm that does chicken boarding for the week. We got 2 of them from there in January and the deal is we take them there, they dust them for mites etc, put them in a coop and run and keep them safe for us as a group, including feed, water and corn. We looked at a petsitter popping in and out but didn't think it would be fair as they'd think they were going to be let out and there wouldn't be regular egg collection. We looked into a housesitter but would have needed a second mortgage to cover that. We looked at the in laws driving over every day to let them out for a while but again, limited contact but the main worry was leaving them overnight with "Ooops, word censored!"ody in the house to keep an ear out. We've left them for a weekend before but 8 days and not being in the UK had me sweating on it. So ... hoping we don't stress them out too much with a trip in boxes in the car but at least they'll be together and I'm hoping that will compensate somewhat. Wish I wasn't so bloody soft but I loves my girls!!! Anyone else stressed themselves out over this?!

Yep!!! We only went away for a long weekend too :lol: No boarding option here :( so had to go with pet sitter coming and going, but we do have 2 cats, a hamster and fish too!!! It was costly and the pekins didn't get out for any free ranging......but were fine when we got back :D

We haven't all been away since though and my eldest son is a star with them if I go away :D
