hrtbps
Afternoon, First time poster. We recently bought two wyandotte bantams for our eglu go (pic: https://www.flickr.com/photos/heartbeeps/13971629226/). I'm going to create a raised bed using railway sleepers, use sand as a base in the run, and plant grass/plants around the outside of the run. What plants would you recommend? I read somewhere about lavender being good for keeping flies at bay? I'm looking for plants which: - chickens don't like eating - smell nice - offer a little natural shade Thanks, and hello! Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome . Congratulations on your new girls - they are gorgeous . Beautiful feathers . Re plants, in their freerange area, I have waxy leaved plants - berberis, ilex and mahonia - which they don't touch and an old hydrangea which they do nibble at the bottom but the top grows nicely. Choo-chook
Wow, love the colouring of them. I've got a silver pencilled one, dolly who has the sweetest nature. I can recommend choisya (Mexican orange plant), they are evergreen and have a lovely scent and lots of white flowers. Chickens don't go seem to have a taste for them, yay. I'm very jealous of your lovely green grass
mollyripkim
Interesting post, I'd like to plant some pots around their run as well. Love your girls, they are very pretty.
