dottychicken
Hi, A couple of days ago I noticed that our speckledy had a little white blob forming in her right eye, not outside but within the eye lid. I gently cleaned the eye with saline solution but this morning I noticed it had gotten bigger. Does anyone know what this might be? Many thanks. Mrs_B
I didn't want to read and run, but to me it sounds like it could maybe be mycoplasma? I had that in my flock and the first thing I noticed was something in my hen's eye, in the corner - it was foamy and white. Can you compare pictures online at all? If you suspect this, I would definitely separate your chicken if you can as it's very infectious and see about seeing your vet for treatment (antibiotics). I'm sure someone will come along to help further Good luck! x
Beantree
I wonder if it is a 'stye?' or similar Mrs_B. We have had fat formations on eyelids before when we gave too much sweetcorn as treats. Might be a foreign body lodged in the lid? May be a trip to the vet is needed because any detailed examination around the eyes will need sedation. dottychicken
Hi, Thanks for your responses. The eye isn't foaming, rather it looks like a clear jelly layer with a white blob in the centre directly under the pupil. I think you're right, a vet trip might be in order!
