menagerie
I love my chickens very much but they have a lot of attitude! Today I was trying to eat my lunch in the garden to nkeeo an eye on them (nice egg fried rice and stew) but Henrietta jumped onto my knee then onto the table and into my dinner before I could blink! She tried to peck it and I jumped and sprayed stew everywhere including down my nice clean work trousers -whereupon Sandie and Scarlett start pecking stew off my legs!! So I had to bin the part of the dinner she'd stood in and change my trousers before going back to work. I was cross but had to laugh.... On the bright side Sandie laid her first egg today (nice brown and speckly, 40g) so it was my first 3 egg day and I can't complain. Are other people's chickens this assertive/naughty? I am glad they are tame but they don't half like stealing things and jumping up at me.

Edge Wife
Oh yes. My routine is that I get home from work and sit on the deck steps and feed the chooks some grapes or sweetcorn so we are all there to greet the husband when he comes through the gate. I get jumped on, pecked, mugged every night without fail and I never learn. Last week I had a really lovely piece of lemon roulade that I was very excited about (being a foodie). I sat down at the table on the deck and was immediately joined by Phoebe who promptly stood in it! They will also try to put us off food by any means possible: last night it was tug o'war with a worm. All in all I am happy though that we have confident hens that can behave so badly and get away with it. Come to think of it, every pet I've ever had has had an attitude problem. It must be me
Karen & co.
One of our rescue girls has been renamed by the children and our chicken sitter who looked after them while we were away, as Psycho instead of Sprite, as she will jump up and peck your clothes or if you stand still long enough your skin I was sat in the garden the other day with a cup of tea, and she was trying to peck a mole off my leg she is rather persistant too karen x

Minky
My girls motto is the old 'what's mine is mine and what's yours in mine too' Even drinks aren't safe, I'll turn round to find a little feathery head shoved into my glass. They quite enjoy it if I'm working from home too, I'll sit up the garden with the laptop and they'll spend a happy afternoon pecking the screen trying to eat the curser if I let em! Hilda will also steal clothes pegs if I drop them, hairing up the garden so I don't take away her new treasure, which she'll then throw away in disgust when she realises her prize isn't edible. It doesn't matter how many times she does this, she still doesn't learn!
Ladylucan
Wow, it all sounds like good fun, as mine dont freerange in the garden, as they have their own big run they all run to the gate when we go out, and then they fight to see who can be in front.
