Limping chicken

Recommended Posts

Hi - sorry to hear you are having some problems. We went through something similar 6 years ago with very lame chickens due to a calcium deficiency. Looking back now at our inexperienced new chook selves and I would have to say it was our fault spoiling them too much with treats! Rookie mistake!

Anyway we bought some limestone flour from a horse feed supplier and gave the a teaspoon in some mashed up tuna with some bird grit and it cleared up so quickly. Now if any of my ladies lay even a thinner than usual shell let alone a softie, I do the same and it sorts it out straight away.

Hopefully this will help for you in the absence of any obvious other foot injuries/illnesses of course. Good luck.
