Charlottechicken
Oh dear, more eBay woes I've received a winning bid for an old toy, but the transaction has been flagged up as high risk by Paypal. I've never had anything like this before so am trying to find out what makes it high risk. Paypal have advised not to send the item until the payment has cleared with them, and they will advise when it clears. Oddly, I received a strange email from the buyer after the auction ended, with instructions in, such as putting the ebay number of the item on the outside of the package and making sure that everything which was listed was included in the parcel (cheeky!!) I suspect it is an overseas buyer buying through some sort of shipping company, as I don't deal with overseas buyers. Anyone ever come across this before? Egluntyne
I've never heard of this either. I would definitely take paypal's advice about not sending the item until the money has been received. I would also tell the buyer that this is what you are doing. Does anything in the buyer's feedback raise a red flag?
WitchHazel
MIght be worth checking your own settings, just in case (unlikely I know). Here is what Paypal says: Find and stop suspicious transactions Help prevent fraudulent transactions and improve your efficiency with Fraud Management Filters – a free service for PayPal merchants that screens every transaction according to settings you define. How it works You decide how to set Fraud Management Filters to fit your business needs. High-risk transactions are denied, held pending for your review, or approved but flagged for your attention. You can screen by: Maximum transaction amount - set your desired maximum purchase amount Country of origin - payments from countries you think pose a business risk It’s easy to set up: Select Fraud Management Filters from your PayPal Profile Choose your filter settings on the Edit My Filter Settings page https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/?cmd=xpt/Marketing/merchant/RiskControlsOverview-outside
Charlottechicken
It looks OK now. Payment has cleared, buyer has 12400 feedback all 100% positive and only buys stuff. Has only been registered for three years so I'm pretty sure that they buy on behalf of people. Paypal advised that they flag certain payments as pending until they have checked them out, not sure what type of payment though? They are now offering full seller protection on this transaction as long as I send to the paypal registered address, which I always do. This is the first time I have ever come across this type of thing so just wonder if it is more common if you post abroad, which I don't. Thanks, WitchHazel, never changed my paypal settings in 10 years but will double check them!
