Brianbj
Two of my four road I reds are periodically laying on the roosting bars instead of the nest box with the result that the eggs are getting smashed and falling into the trays underneath.Has anyone had the same problem and managed to overcome it. Purplemaniacs
This does seem to happen occasionally with mine, I think that they just get caught short If it is a regular thing perhaps check that there are no little creatures making a home in the nest box that are putting the chooks off of using it. Alex_LJZ
One of mine always lays on the bars - she has never used the nest box. never get a broken one though, the others must just avoid it? Do you collect them same time every day? could you go earlier?
Brianbj
I do keep my eye on the ones coming out of the cube and go to the nest box straight away but once one jumps up to go to nest the others usually jump up to and stand in the cube as if they all want to lay together
