Egluntyne
Just been watching the news. There are 2 more alerts.....one in Romney Marsh and one at Chessington World of Adventure. Lets hope they are false alarms.
Lesley
I hope so - our pigs are booked in for next week The farmer at the farm shop was telling us there had been another suspected case in Kent - i haven't seen any news yet today. lisa33
I heard about the one in Kent on Five Live on the way home from work. Haven't heard about the others. Fingers crossed they are false alarms.
Guest
I was at Romney Marsh on Saturday It just shows how easy it is to spread viruses when the public is so mobile. We have cattle just over our garden fence. Chessington is not far from me either, but I haven't been there. I hope these are more cautious farmers and not actual outbreaks. Louise
As far as I know these are false alarms as the virus is possibly gone past expected incubation period of 3-8 days The strain that has caused this is actually less infectious than most so fingers crossed
Egluntyne
Phew.... I'm sure it is just vigilance on the part of the owners in the light of the recent news. Very commendable.
Louise
Preliminary results will be due this morning but they have to do a second more sensitive test to absolutely rule it out
Louise
Prelim results are negative There is a possible date for lifting the surveillance zone so it looks like it has been succesfully contained
Egluntyne
That's great news. The whole thing seems to be being handled more calmly and rationally this time. I suppose lessons have been learned from the hideous events of the last major outbreak.
