gavclojak
Yes a root filling would have been a whole other ball game in terms of prognosis for the tooth. Diagnostic radiographs are usually started between 16-18 unless possible early decay is suspected, they are then repeated every 2 years but can vary based on diet etc. Very often dentists will ask patents to fill in a diet sheet to see how much sugar/fizzy/fruit the teeth are exposed too. The Dogmother
Yes, Rosie is 16 and has just had her first xray. Our dentist is private, but she is seen on the NHS with them at the moment. I did get annoyed with her as she has lovely teeth, but was having to get chips filed out of her two front teeth... turns out that she was using her teeth to open her sports bottle of water I have pointed out that these are her only set of teeth now, and she has to look after them. I have to say that my dentist is good; he knows that I can't afford non-necessary treatment, but he is in the habit of telling me that my teeth are the cleanest he has seen since I last came, then trying to book me in with the hygienist, which would cost as much as a week's groceries! Last time I saw the hygienist she said that she couldn't really find much to do on my teeth and recommended that I only see her every couple of years unless i Have any concerns.... suits me as I hate going. gavclojak
The time we see deteriorationin in a previously stable young adult's teeth is usually when they start uni...I think the reasons will be obvious to most parents that have kids that have gone down that route
Willow
This dentist did tell ES that beer was particularly bad for teeth Looks like he was mostly just unlucky as apart from that bit of tooth falling out the rest of his teeth look good - although there is evidence he grinds his teeth a bit so dentist will keep an eye on them.
