patsylabrador
I saw the final Hobbit film today. I loved it but I feel quite bereft. I am a big old Middle Earth geek and have lived and loved all of these films. I've read the two books several times but feel I will read more especially Silmarillion which I haven't done yet and answers lots of questions. Tolkien and Peter Jackson - cool guys. End of an era, no more Middle Earth films to look forward to. Sad face!
Cat tails
Oh! I'm going this saturday! But I know absolutely what you mean. Read everything long before the films. I had the same with the Harry Potter books and films. I was about the same age as Harry when the first books came out.
JellyBean2605
Yes nothing quite beats the thrill of a new Harry Potter book arriving, i really miss that. I have also been impressed with the sheer scale of the Tolkien books adaptation to film, Jackson has done them justice and frankly made them much more interesting. I love the books and am a keen reader but they are heavy going. What will we watch now?
bluekarin
My son and daughter watched them at the weekend and said they were good. I really enjoyed the first Lord of the Rings films, but not enjoyed The Hobbit ones as much. Slightly too long perhaps, and some of the computer graphics have been too obvious. As in the orcs looking as if they are floating and not touching the ground. That said, Peter Jackson was the right person to do these book adaptations. I can't imagine anyone else doing them justice. That said, I know what you mean about not having them to look forward to. We went to the cinema to watch TLOTR every winter they were out, same with HP, and it's sad to know there aren't more to come. Then again, it does limit the marathon of watching them all. Imagine how long it would take if he did Silmarillion as well!?
