Solitary chicken - need advice

I'm moving soon (hopefully). I'm going from semi rural to rural with 3 acres and surrounding farmland. I thought of putting up electric fencing for my girls. However I know this isn't guarateed fox proof, so I was wondering whether to get another WIR instead. What do you think ?

I would go for as big a WIR as you can afford. that way they will be safe and secure if you go on holiday etc. I would then allow them to FR when you are out and about in the garden. When you can afford it buy the electric fence to add protection if you don't want to leave them FR on their own. I have nearly an acres and my neighbours four of them also have an acre or more each. We have no fences only trees to show the boundary and I allow mine to FR most afternoons especially this time of year. They wonder all over but always return to their beds. Touch wood we haven't had any problems with foxes. The land at the back is used to rear pheasants and I think any foxes are delt with before they become a problem. I did have a chicken taken by an otter a while ago though. If I think there is the possibility of predators they stay in the WIR!
