Newchick76
Hi folks... Tried looking into this on FAQ section but the link wasn't working. Would love to hear from you... Collected my eggs just now and one egg, from my bluebell I think, was smeared with fresh red blood stains and a couple of drops. Definitely blood as washed off. I can't see anything unusual about her vent area. Anxious about a trip to the vets, as it seems I always return emptyhanded! Is this a common problem with a known cause? Look forward to your thoughts Xxx
Olly
It's common for this to happen occasionally, especially if the birds are new to laying. I still get the odd one every once in a while. It's always best to check in case of prolapse, as you have done but if they all look ok and if this isn't happening every day then I wouldn't worry. Just one of those things. mullethunter
Yep. Happens to them all from time to time.
Luvachicken
2 of mine have had blood smears on them, but then that is the first time they have laid. It does happen every now and then.
