mimi5
So, finally it's Martha who has stuck to the pot eggs Going to see how she goes tomorrow. Then transfer her and the pot eggs to the classic. If that goes well I'll set her on some eggs! So question - how many eggs 6,7 or 8??? She is quite large for a pekin (ages back it was suggested by some omletteers that she could be a batam orp x pekin, as her feathers are a sort of rainbow black, not beetle green black. Her tail also isn't classic pekin) She was a bought hatching egg....so maybe? Decided to use snowflake in the nest......hope that's a good idea? Used straw 3 years ago and both girls got scaley leg

UKMARCH
How exciting, what eggs are you going to hatch?
mimi5
It is exciting having finally decied to go for it again!!! My own pekin eggs But already Martha is giving me the run around!!!! She wouldn't sit yesterday, but settled again last night. So I changed the eggs over and gave her 8 of a mix of her own eggs and Polly's. But she must have trod in her poo this morning and got some on the eggs Also she was off the nest again...which was how I saw the dirty egg, Grrrrrr. So gently wiped the egg in warm water and when I went back out she was back on the ggs!!!!! So slipped it under. Who knows.....she always goes broody and is 3 years old next month. My Molly hen hatched her Now she was an excellent broody Sadly I lost her in her sleep one night during the winter. I'll keep you posted!!! Hope for cute, fluffy girls!!!
