Poorly Bernadette again

Recommended Posts

I expect (and hope) that like last time Bernie will be a bit better in the morning and will continue to improve over then exit few days. If it keeps happening though I can't see a happy ending :(

As for broody Penny  , I've shut her and Amy out of the Eglu for tonight (much to the Pekins' delight no doubt!) so they're having to sleep on the perch in the run. I expect she'll have to be in the broody (upside down hamster) cage in the morning though

Thankyou for asking.

She seemed slightly happier in herself but her crop, although much smaller, wasn't empty.

So I gave her a bit of a massage, gave her some daktarin and put her in the spare run with water but no food. She was well enough to moan very loudly though so as they're getting on OK at the moment I've put Shelley in with her (she's a bit fatter than Bernie so a day without food won't do her any harm).

After I'd done that I had to get Penny out of the nestbox (she slept outside on a perch but went onto the nest as soon as I opened the Eglu) and put her in the broody cage. Poor Amy's going 'Where's everyone gone?'! The broody cage is in her run but it's not the same!

All before 07:30 - what a palaver! Hopefully Bernie'll be a bit better again when I get home from work (have to go out in a minute actually and will be driving past home so might see if I can get a sneaky look at her without her seeing me!).

:lol: I know what you mean! I had to sort out the cube (Max & Polly) then sort out Martha & the chicks in the classic  all before I leave 7.15 to drop the dog off at doggie daycare before my drive to work!

As I more or less expected Bernie is fine again. Hopefully she'll stay well for more than a few days this time. I've got them some pellets that they actually like now so I'm hoping that will help.

The broody cage has worked a treat with Penny. 3 days and nights and now she's back to normal :D
