Mrs Nesbitt
Hi all - in need of some help... Neighbour has spotted a fox cruising the neighbourhood so I think I need to think about electric fencing... My question is this: I have some omlet netting I bought back in 2007 and it has wire running through it so I'm presuming that I can electrify it?? And that it's different therefore to what omlet currently sells? Ta muchly x
Egluntyne
I would give Omlet a call.
Chickabee
I don't think you can. Electric fencing has to have a conductor running through it. I don't think the old fencing did
Mrs Nesbitt
Thanks for that... Phoned omlet today but the lovely lady I spoke to didn't know really although when I explained that there was strands of wire through the fencing she thought that it probably could be... Presume this wire would be the conductor that you're talking about chickabee... Think I'll visit the local agricultural centre and have a look at their fencing and see if mine looks the same Could be an expensive experiment otherwise!!! WitchHazel
The older style (slightly shorter) Omlet netting is electrifiable (we use it at our allotment), the newer (taller) stuff isn't. EDITED TO ADD: The newer (non electrifiable) stuff has posts which look like this at the bottom: The shorter, electrifiable netting has a completely different bottom. Mrs Nesbitt
Ah thanks for that WitchHazel that's exactly what I wanted to know - felt sure someone on here would know That leads me on to another question about the bottom of the fence shorting out on the ground but think I'll start a new post so it doesn't get overlooked... Thanks again all x
