jimnpaula
This came up on my Facebook via the BHWT: British Hen Welfare Trust shared Winnie Woodcock-dennis's photo. Please take the time to read this little story... Hopefully one of our many lovely BHWT supporters in Essex will be able to help? Hi everyone. We have a story to share. We have had our gorgeous hens from BHWT for over a year. Yesterday after a death from old age, a fox massacred the rest of our flock. We were devastated, as they have become part of our family. I have spend the last 24 hours miserable and very upset. I took the decision to empty out their house of fresh bedding ready for rubbish collection tomorrow. On going to our bins, I found a hen, alive and unharmed by the fox. She has hidden there all night and all day. I've just fed her and she has toddled off to lay an egg. I cannot explain the emotional roller coaster we have been on. I would like to ask if anyone in the Essex area has a lonely hen needing a home, as I fear she may die of loneliness before the next batch of hens is available for rehoming. Can anyone help? jimnpaula
Having re-read the post I think she may be asking about getting another hen for company, not asking to re-home this survivor.
