ben_e71
Having a big problems with slugs and our bunny food. Every day with have to pick two large slugs out of their bowl last thing at night. We can tell the girls don't like the slugs cause as soon as we remove them they bound up to their food and start eating. What can we do to stop slugs getting into their food? Hockeyaholic
I was going to ask the same thing...I hate slugs! I went to feed the bunnies the other day, it was dark, I put my hand in the eglu to get their bowl when....urgh I prodded a big icky slug! Is there anything to deter them thats pet friendly? 'cause we've got a dog as well as the 2 bunnies.
kissinuk
Yes, get some Nemaslug before it's too late (can only apply it until october I think). You can get it from http://www.greengardener.co.uk/slug.htm - it is a nemotode that lives on slugs, it greatly reduced the number in our garden. You can also get pet friendly slug killer from most garden centres, but Nemaslug is a better long term solution.
Chocobo
Put some beer in a pot near the rablu maybe- I've heard about them being attracted to it, and then drowning because they can't get out again . But it would be a trap not a repelant
Ziggy
You can get copper tape from garden centres, it's fairly easy to use, you just stick it around your bunny's feeding bowl, and slugs don't cross it... I hope that helps, we have it around our herbs containers...
kissinuk
Put some beer in a pot near the rablu maybe- I've heard about them being attracted to it, and then drowning because they can't get out again . But it would be a trap not a repelant I used to have one of those and they work great (bit of a waste of beer/cider though!). However, just remember to empty it often, I forgot a few times and the result isn't very nice...
DizzyLizzie
I don't know why it works but it's been keeping slugs off our plants for the last couple of years - I'd try this on your pets bowl.
Lottie
Same problem too but also with snails. When I put them away The hutch is covered in them:vom: . Not in the food bowl though

DizzyLizzie
Sorry - I was referring to the copper tape. Works for the plants. We get slimy visitors in the food bowl but it doesn't bother our bunnies - they eat round them!
Happy-Mama
Last night I noticed slugs in the rablu, and a huge spider I had to chase out. I'll try the copper tape for the slugs but what about the spiders...
