Should I keep my pink bluebells ?

Recommended Posts

Pink bluebells apparently are a cross between our native bluebells and the Spanish ones.

They are quite pretty but I can't decide whether to let them grow or dig them up.

I like to try and grow native things but I also like things for the bees.

I wouldn't like mutant versions of things pushing out my native ones.

What would you do ?

There are sort of lilacy ones in our garden (along with blue and white). If you like them I'd keep them unless you think they may spread to / hybridise with wild native ones.

any of the non blue native ones are either hybrids of the Spanish and Native ones or Spanish ones which will over time over whelm the Native ones as they are more productive than the native ones

It's not just your plants you need to consider but any in gardens and wood land local to you who might not want their bluebells contaminated
