Jules
Wow! I haven't been here for a while!! I have had a eglu and chickens for about 11 years but been chicken less since my one and only fox attack a year ago. We have now completely rebuild the run and I am now thinking about new chooks I have always wanted a couple of silkies but I know they are small - could I put some small hybrids with them? - white star? Any advise very welcome Thank you Julia
Lewis
Silkies come in Large Fowl and Bantam but as you say, even the LF aren't very big. We have Cilla the Silkie who was kindly given to us by Redwing and she lives happily with other LF and hybrids. Silkies and hybrids may go well together to balance out the lack of eggs and broodiness
Grandmashazzie
I have a black and a white Silkie. They are very pretty but rubbish at egg production and are VERY broody. I would only get Silkies if you didn't need / want eggs.
Mars
White stars aren't aggressive and they will be fine with silkies. they are good eggs producers too.
