emmalou
Sorry but I am a newbie therefor I am excused from silly questions:think: !!! I have read about layer pellets. I am giving our chickens some cereal mix which does have quite a lot of maize in, so will need to look at that for next time and may change supplier. However I am not sure if this has layer pellets in. When I type in layer pellets on the internet they look similar to the pellets i am using for Worming. Do most feed mixes have pellets in them if they are for layers. I have VERM X for the worming but should I be looking at this layer pellets too or are they the same? I cannot think they are I cannot see them in the seed mix unless they are ground down?? Sorry but had to ask.
chooksRCute
Emmylou There's generally three types of chicken feed... Chick crumb, for babies. Growers pellets or mash which is for pullets (young birds not yet laying eggs) - high protein to aid growth & feather development & Layers mash or pellets for big girls who are laying - this has higher calcium to help form strong egg shells Mash is essentially the same as pellets but just mashed up.. Different brands may have slightly different combinations of grain, seeds etc but generally the same mineral/ vitamin content
emmalou
Cool so it is likely that my cereal for laying hens has it in if it has a mix of grains? Thanks
chooksRCute
If it was sold as a layers mix then yes, it should contain all they need
emmalou
Yes it is a mix for layers so hopefully will be sufficient. Thanks again.
sjp
Cool so it is likely that my cereal for laying hens has it in if it has a mix of grains? Thanks it won't contain wormer unless it's specified on the bag and only if you have a feed manufacturer in France that has a license to make and sell feed with wormer in it license isn't cheap and has to be renewed either every year or every other year pellets are the same as mash just ground finer and the pelleted
