patsylabrador
I've been watching bits and bobs of the Chilcott Inquiry. I feel conflicted about much of it but I'm fuming about how soldiers were treated and how badly equipped they were. It's charities that push forward their care when they return. It makes me feel cold inside to think about how many damaged and lonely people would be out there now without all the great charities. I didn't think I could have a lower opinion of politicians since recent events but apparently I could. The Middle East was messed up and frightening before the wars, it has been for hundreds of years so I haven't reached an opinion about that part of it yet. soapdragon
I feel really angry that our troops were sent out to do a job and not properly equipped to do it...resulting in death, injury and trauma. Also the whole balance of the 'middle east' has been turned upside down. Its been a troubled area for many, many years and this has made it even worse. The 'war' was rushed into without proper though or consideration and its our troops and the Iraqi people who have suffered as a result whilst the perpetrators still live in the lap of luxury. I don't want to cause offence here and so will stop now but still feel very bitter that this was done in the name of the British people who had no idea what was going on 'at the top'. gavclojak
I have read the report and I'm not going to get all "political " but does anybody else agree with me when I say, I was embarrassed when reading it that Tony Blair was our PM, apart from the political side of things he came across as a desperate little hanger on who would do anything to win a nod from George Bush....it was so cringeworthy to read, like a tragic little boy who would do and say anything to win approval from the big boys. soapdragon
Totally agree....appeasement springs to mind. Not an original thought in that head.
