I've just been to let the girls out to find my 5 year old skyline has been busy pulling her feathers out. I've never had this before, is it to cool down? She last laid an egg nearly 2 weeks ago.

Have you checked for mites or lice? Apparently they feather pull when they have these. Also the reason I checked mine for mites was eggs or should I say lack of. So might be that.

Thanks Grandmashzzie, have been put with OH to manhandle her, she's a big girl....she was adopted by us as her old owner didn't want her any more . We named her Turkey as she is so huge, anyway no sign of mites, a couple of the others have got them, but not her. She's a loner, took ages to integrate, so she doesn't snuggle up with the others for the little blighters to spread....she had been kept as a lone chicken for a good while . I'll keep an eye on her, perhaps she is just trying to cool down.
