Hiding in cube

Recommended Posts

In my little flock of 9 I have a little black and a little white silkie. These two are bottom of the pecking order. My white girl Olaf is permanently broodie or so I thought until yesterday. I chased the rest out to free range and turfed her into WIR where she pottered about all day. Dust bathing , sitting on perch ,scratching about etc. The same today. Previous broodies have hopped back in after a bit of food. Poor girl, she must be feeling quite terrified to sit in cube all day. I will continue to chase others out but in the long term should I split run? It is good size and I could put silkies and Mille fleurs together.

I have a little pekin who is bottom of the pecking order and she spends her days in the cube. As my in laws are looking after my chickens at the moment as we are in rented, my MIL has put a little food and water bowls inside the cube just for her, she also gets all the best treats ( sure she knows what she is doing  ) warm, not too far for food.
