Patio Door Opening convention ?

Recommended Posts

We need to replace our patio doors.

Currently, the hallway leads into the lounge area which leads (on the RHS wall via a large arch) to the dining room - so really one room with a bit of a divider.

The patio doors are in the dining room, with the RHS door sliding - so part that you exit through is furthest away.

I was considering changing this so the sliding door is on the left and so nearer the middle of the back wall, as it would be more accessible but wondered if it would look 'wrong'.

Is there any convention on this sort of thing?

Thanks, all knowing Omleteers, H

opening door goes were ever it's convenient for the customers use really left or right. just need to tell the suppliers which way you want the doors to work as they'll make them to order anyway and it's only the handles that are handed the rest of the ironmongery is universal and the fixed pane is the same section as the opening one just has no ironmongery on it
