Luvachicken
On a meal out recently I had the most delicious treacle tart. I know it's not the healthiest option but it would make a lovely treat. I've only ever made it with golden syrup and breadcrumbs and a bit of lemon zest. I've not made one for about 15 years The one I had in the pub was pale, soft and squidgy and not overly sweet. Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe I could try, thanks
Olly
I usually use Delia Smith 'Complete Cookery Course' wholewheat treacle tart. It's very lemony and not too sweet. Sorry I can't find an online link and haven't got time to write it down just now, but it's her classic cookbook which is always my 'go to' book for anything I need. soapdragon
The only recipe that St Delia of Smith has ever let me down on was the treacle tart. Very emmbarasing as I had made it to take the outlaws for an alternative to Christmas Pudding. Quite put me off trying any more of St Delia's reciepts! Luvachicken
I actually made Tom Kerridge's version. It used brioche crumbs instead of bread crumbs. It was very nice but still not like I'd had at the pub. Funny thing though, we went to the same pub again last week and I had the treacle tart but it was not like the piece I had in the first place Think I'm going to try making it with condensed milk next time instead of golden syrup. Do any of you think that would work ?
