SeramaSilly
Anyone keep these birds here and if so what do you keep them in? Many thanks
Lewis
I've kept these a few times. Had a trio in a large (wide base) bird cage with a zebra finches before and then when I hatched them at uni we kept them in indoor rabbit cages. They like cover and places to hide so the little plastic igloos you get for rabbits are ideal as well as conifer branches etc. I know people who keep them in the bottom of aviaries but they would need to come in over winter as they're so small and they tend to drop eggs wherever they are so they get lost. I'm sure you know but chickens and quail can't be kept together as they'd get bullied and also fly off if free ranging!
SeramaSilly
Thanks Lewis - did you enjoy keeping them? I know they are very nervy birds - do they get incredibly stressed when they have to be moved so their cage can be cleaned? Many thanks
Lewis
Yeah they are fun little birds but not very interactive like the chickens are. I know some people have tamed their CPQ but ours were quite flighty. I'd move them into a travel box while they were cleaned out and they flapped a bit but wouldn't say where were incredibly stressed no.
