Natspringy
Hi all, I just treated with flubervet for worms but Im pretty sure I just saw a worm in the poo. Can I treat again so soon? Only finished the course 2 weeks ago! As always thanks for your help!
The Dogmother
OK, so you treat them for 7 whole days, with no other food being offered and restricted/no free ranging. If they haven't been wormed before, or you suspect a heavy worm load, then you can worm again after a break of 3 weeks. The revert to a quarterly routine. While you are worming, you will need to boost their gut flora and health by giving Nettex gut conditioner in their water. I always attack the worm lifecycle from both ends by using ground sanitising powder in the run every week, and then having a run clear-out after worming and sprinkling it down on the slabs before I put a new bale of Aubiose in.
Natspringy
Thank you. These are rescues so maybe a heavy worm load. Just doing the ground again with sanitiser now! So I guess I should wait another week before reworming? Can I catch from their eggs in the meantime?! Thanks for all your help!
The Dogmother
You can still eat their eggs if that's what you mean
Natspringy
Thank you. From reading around it looks like tape worm. I just read that I need a different treatment for this. What would you suggest?
The Dogmother
I would take a faecal sample to the vet or send off to Retfords for analysis - as I said in another thread (forget which) they will advise on appropriate treatment. You should use this on all your birds.
Natspringy
I couldn't find retfords from a Google. Does anyone have their details? Thank you.
The Dogmother
Retfords: Retford Poultry Partnership Unit 5 Stirling Rd West Carr Ind Est Retford Nottinghamshire DN22 7SN 01777 703011 or https://wormcount.com/order-now/ TBH, most vets should offer this service though.
