bronze
I put paper in the nest box as its easier to doa quick clean that way. I AM SO agreeing with the larger run door thing. I hurt my back getting in as I have to commando crawl as Gallina says being long legged and too high to just crawl in.It also means I'm not as close to my chooks as I would liek to be as I can't just go in to pet them. xChicken04x
I put line the nesting box with news paper and put shredded paper in there to keep them comfy, and they love to "prepare" their nest before laying! (awwww) xx
foreveryoung
Hi have a cube and I am actually quite satisfied with it!!! i have it in a large run and in a courner! i have it there mainly so i can also put my girls transport cage behind it!! i dont have a problem with the door handle thingy and the egg port door where they are! with the cube being off ground and it sitting in a corner dosent effect the girls space in the slightest! as to the holes i put some kitchen in them to stop things from falling out! theres ways around almost anything! emma xx
Sue and the Spice Girls
I agree about the person access into the run. My girls have no problem with the ladder, but I would like the door and egg port on the same side as three of my positions for the run are against the hedge, two others aren't. I put shredded paper in the nesting box and used a Kleenex Box to lodge into the hole to stop the girls sleeping in there at night....seems to have worked now as they happily sleep on the bars. Just treated myself to another set of roosting bars as I'm sure they'll be difficult to dry in the winter and I got some 'Good Egg ' money! BLUEORIENTAL
I agree with you, the roosting bars are so flimsy,by the time you have scrubbed them they fall apart. I think the run door is too small, the grub feeders are often knocked off by my hens and end up upside down on the floor. They did advertise the cube for sale with the new feeders and glug. I received the glub although one of the nipples has since broken, the glug itself is almost impossible to remove to be able to clean. When it rains, the poo trays fill up with water? I wouldnt have another one either.
