Installing Indoor Cat Tree

Hiya, we are going to extend our run and put turf down so the chooks can free range in the enclosed area. The problem is that most turf is grown with all sorts of chemicals. Do you think these will hurt the chooks? We have looked for natural turf but can't find any.

Frankly...I wouldnt bother putting turf down if the hens are going on it...unless it is a very large area...as they will scracth it up in no time at all. You will be disappointed and will have wasted your money. I'd put Woodchip down if I were you.

Thanks for the advice! We would like to put grass down because they are already on wood chippings. We would like to give them something a bit different, even if it means replacing it every 2 weeks or so. The extention wont be that big. But when they have escaped in the past they always head for the lawn and grab as much as they can The cost wont be that much, only about £18 for the turf.

how about growing turf in a cat litter tray like some people do? If you have a few on the go then the hens wil always have some grass to peck at?
