Charlottechicken
Well, my local charity shop had a bric a brac sale today and I couldn't resist this for just 50p It weighs almost 2 lb and is solid aluminium, the whole thing is 9 inches long and 9 inches high, and an impression on the handle reads "simplex - super, made Italy". The slotted bucket thingy fits inside too, and with it being Italian and all, I'm thinking citrus press? Anyone any ideas
Egluntyne
I'm sure you are right. I seem to think I might have seen one in an ancient relatives house years ago.
Mrs Frugal
Yes, it's a citrus press. I have one that's very similar and they are wonderful and take the work out of juicing lemons and oranges. Well done! A bargain indeed! Mine's a Springbok and like yours, weighs a ton but looks really nice on the worktop! Edited September 22, 2007 by Guest

Charlottechicken
Anyone any ideas how to clean aluminium? I just gave it a good wash with hot soapy water, but it has a bloom to it in places, and everywhere but the handle is a little rough. I took the bolt out that holds it all together and had to use a brillo type pad on it to smooth it down, but didn't fancy doing that all over it I will be back in the charity shop next Saturday morning
