Xanthe
My neighbour has free ranging (ISA's) hens that hang out in our garden as much as her own. We have an eglu ordered and are now planning our own hen family (very excited). Any advice on how to encourage the two broods to live harmoniously? They have tons of land so space is not an issue but I'm concerned about the older girls feeling territorial and maybe picking on the new ones. We are totally new to this! Thanks. Cat tails
I would definitely leave the new hens in their run for a couple of weeks, to get them used to each other and make sure where home is. Normally free ranging isn’t much an issue. Most issues arise in a closed space like a run or coop. Just make sure the first sessions together are supervised.
Patricia W
It’s important to quarantine the newbies for two weeks so you don’t introduce nasties into the flocks. If they can be in sight of eac( other that will help integration
