Chuckyegg
Hi I have 5 Bantams at the mo and was told that I could keep one or two Hybrids with them - so that I get some eggs. I think I've read that you shouldn't keep both together - any advice?? Thanks guys
Cinnamon
I have Bantams & Hybrids, but I keep them seperate. I had the Hybrids first & thought that the Bants would get picked on if I introduced them. Not sure how it would work the other way around though
Jools
It very much depends! They have their own personalities and heirarchies, so sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I keep bantams and I added a couple of hybrids two years ago (because my pure breeds stop laying in winter and I still wanted EGGS!!!). The hybrids were definitely at the bottom of the pecking order with the established flock of banties keeping them firmly in their place at the bottom of the heap. If you can free-range them, I'd say go for it, but if you have to confine them, that's when the problems can start. Good luck with whatever you decide
Aunty e
I have a mixed bunch in one cube and run, and there isn't any bullying. Well, actually, Penny the pekin beats up Queenie the Welsummer occasionally. But that's it. Go for a couple of nice calm hybrids, like a nice black rock or bluebelle or sussex star.
