Mrs Frugal
Hi Chuckyegg, I've got a Speckledy and she's fab - a big ball of feathers on legs! There's a bit about Speckledy's in the Omlet Breed Guide - here
xChicken04x
Hiya, I have a speckledy hybrid called Uma Here is a piccie of her She is lovley, very funny and a great layer of dark brown eggs but she will not tollerate cuddles!!!! She kicks and fusses and flaps untill you put her down. She will let you stroke her though. I'm not sure if it is just Uma because of the way she was brought up (no handling from a young age) But they are supposed to be good with handling. I wouldnt swap her though, she's lovley! Good luck! xx
Mrs Frugal
Izzy's not a cuddly hen either and will flap and wriggle if you pick her up but she's a delight to watch in the garden as she's such a sweetheart. She seems far more delicate in her movements than the other two and is so careful where she puts her feet .
feemcg
I have a big, fat Speckledy too . Jasmin is funny because she crouches for ages if I so much as say her name or walk past her. This is her with Skye, my Sussex Star.
redfrock
Ruby is a speckledy and secretly my favourite. She is full of character and follows me around. I wouldn't change her for the world
Rabbieboy
Why are they called Speckledy hens when they are actually Barred? I have a Barred Plymouth Rock that look just like a Speckledy. She's the one on the left Edited October 4, 2007 by Guest

Thanks all Hi there, i have a speckly hen and she is very timid, i introduced her and 2 blue haze hens with my other 5 hybrids, the 5 picked on the new three for about 2 weeks, now they get on fine. Ive always been advised not to mix bantams with big hens though
harveypup
Our Speckledy Humbug is huge. A lovely cuddly bundle of feathers who really is not vey bright but more than makes up for it cos she is sooooo friendly
BeckyBoo
Here's a pic with our Speckledy hen in the foreground. She's a lovely fluffy great big bundle of crabby, cranky, anti-social, broody feathers. I've not managed to pick her up yet and she's a right old grump! But she is BEAUTIFUL - the picture doesn't do her justice and she's a lovely character. Go on, get one!! Mrs Bertie
