Madchook
...well my girls have decided to be a bit advanced and start at 18 weeks.... and I still have them on growers pellets Obv I will change them as soon as I can, but can we eat the eggs this week? I have heard you need a week withdrawal from growers due to them having antibiotics in??? I didn't recognise anything in the ingredients as being ab's when I first looked so either it isn't obvious or do not all have them in? Anyone know?? Seems a real shame to not eat the first ones (tho my 2yo put paid to plans with no1 by dropping it on the doorstep ) Maddy
Snowy
What make pellets are they on? If organic you are OK. If not, they are likely to contain a coccidiostat so yes you should not eat the eggs for the recommended withdrawal period. If in doubt, try ringing the manufacturers tomorrow. Madchook
Thanks Snowy, turns out in small print there was a lovely 'no need for withdrawl period' on the label so we are safe The pellets were not organic, they were cheap and contain gm, so maybe the practise of adding antibiotic isn't as widespread as we thought? That's good - I must admit I've never seen it myself either!
