Jules.
I noticed that when I let the girls out in the morning that Poppy has already laid, & her egg is on the roosting bars- Buzz sleeps in the nest box so that will explain that. When Buzz goes to lay about 7.30 Poppy paces up & down outside, & keeps popping into the eglu to check on Buzz to make sure she is OK. Has anyone else noticed any behaviour quirks that the hens do when one of them is laying?
superjules
Mine do the same. Normally Daffodil has already laid by the time I let them out in the morning then Marigold goes in while the Daffodil paces up and down outside the eglu door waiting for her friend to reappear. Then as soon as Marigold has produced, Daffodil makes a big fuss to tell me all about it. They're rather excitable really!!
chocchick
Mine do that as they are desperate to lay an egg and can't wait. I remember Trinny politely waiting outside for Megan to lay an egg, when she was just hiding in the eglu from the other scary chickens. There must be certain rules.
