I have taken delivery of my new Eglu and three hens Dollie, Betty and babs this week. There is an array of supplements and food on the eglu shop. Do I need them all? For instance do the payers pellets include grit or do I need to supply it seperatley? I won't the girls to thrieve but to I need all the extra to achive healthy birds?

well, we're just starting out and we bought, apart from the run/coop and storage containers, feeders, coop cups etc etc

garlic powder- to help the poop be less smelly, you can get it from farm/horse suppliers, not sure if omlet do it, they might do

oyster grit and ordinary poultry grit- mixed in with their layes mash and a little pile in the corner of the outside run.

poultry spice- to pep them up a bit, with them being ex-batts

red mite powder- just in case and to sprinkle round the coop after cleaning

poultry shield- to clean out the coop

oh and hemcore to put in the coop and run, brilliant stuff, just pick out the poopy bits and stick em in the compost bin and sprinkle a bit more around.

enjoy your chickens! :)

Thanks Guys. I had not heard of hemcore but will now try to source it as it sounds a lot better than the bark I currently use. Like many I have a permanent site for the EGLU so any thing that makes easy to keep clean and smell free is welcome not least by the neighbours!!
