DH is digging in the garden and he's given the girls some worms. Now, I thought they loved bread, pasta and especially sweetcorn but I've seen it all now! Hens dashing around with worms hanging out of their beaks, in case anyone dares to take it from them. They must taste really nice!!!

Hubby read somewhere though that eating real worms gives them worms?? im not sure if this is true though. But you cant stop them though as mine are always scurrying around in the garden.

I don't have many earthworms (New Zealand Flatworm has seen to that..... ) but they do chase each other round trying to take slugs off each other! Don't mind them having slugs - fewer to destroy my vegs and salad crops etc!

Are mealworms okay then if we buy some of them?

They are more prone to worms if they freerange as worms and slugs contain the parasite eggs. They will still get them Poet - they will dig in their run for them!

yeah but we can go for damage limitation Are mealworms a safer bet do you think?

Sorry, forgot about the mealworms! I think they should be OK as they are a commercial product so I presume will be bred 'in captivity'.
