chickencam
My girls are eating me out of house and home at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference since the weather has turned colder.
moochoo
I was only saying that yesterday! My girls have certainly been greedier over the past couple of weeks, they've polished off a days food already. I wonder, like us if the feel warmer with a full tum? Blonde Chicken
Glad its not just us then. Ours are eating like there is no tomorrow as well. not going mad then. Karen.
Happymama
Mine do a bit, but they get porridge and bread crusts every day anyway. The dog doens't help, I've had to pin the Eglu door almost shut to let hens in but keep dog out, or she eats the pellets too, garlic laced as they are. Cheshire Chooks
Is it the quantity that has increased or that they are eating the same amount in 8 hours of daylight rather than 16?
Gallina
Mine are eating very much more than usual. I reckon it is about half a litre of pellets per hen per day (I use a measuring jug to pour them into the feeders, and I seem to put out about three litres (as it were) for six hens. I bring the food in at night. (I say this because last time I thought they had enormous appetites, it was the rats polishing the pellets off at night.) Ain't Nobody Here
I was wondering why my trousers were getting tight - I must be "winter eating" . My girls don't seem to be doing the same though (they obviously have some will power .)
