Guest
or put wooden/china eggs in that she can't peck without getting a headache!
Egluntyne
The mustard treatment is a well documented remedy. Give it a try.
Christian
I was told mustard, chilli etc. Apparently though, birds can't taste chilli. Stick to the mustard. It should put her off. Also, if you make the nest box darker, maybe drape some hessian over the eglu door that should help. Chickens don't like eating in the dark. Worth a try? Egluntyne
Hens definitely can't taste chilli. Last summer, when I thought I had a rat under my Eglu, I emptied a whole jar of Lazy Chilli that was past it's use by date into the place where I thought th rate was living. A week or so later, I moved the Eglu and quick as a flash the girls gobbled up the chilli like there was no tomorrow. A whole jar full!! It didn't even make their eyes water! Christian
I read about it on a website somewhere. If you sprinkle chilli on birdseed/peanuts, then squirrels won't touch it.
