newlaidegg
I can highly recommend Garden Poultry in Kingsley, Cheshire. I have just checked the map and its about 56 miles from you and would take approximately 1 hour. www.gardenpoultry Speak to Lisa. She is really helpful and should be able to let you know what breeds she has in. (The website doesn't cover all the breeds available) Good luck! emu
Hello and a Big Thank you for all your helpful advice. Mr Miller can help me with the Light Sussex breed and sounds a real character-lovely. The Orpington story is a different one as no-one seems to breed them around here.Ideally wanted this trio, however a farm in Leicestershire could help us but we would have to take her in by New Year as they only have three left. The reason why April was a start date was due to us being on holiday and plus point was the better weather and light conditions. Also organising a chicken sitter.. btw any lancs chicken sitters out there for Mid March?? But now the Orpie has appeared we feel compelled in fetching her first-popping her into the eglu with promise of Light Sussex pair popping in next day.Do hope she isnt too lonely(would be soft enough to keep eglu in garage for first night and keep her cosy and safe after the car lag journey from leicester.Hope it will be a harmonious meeting as I have read so many tales of discord in the eglu. What would you experienced egluites suggest?? Regards a confused emu
chickenlass
LOL I knew you wouldn't be able to resist getting some hens before April once you had your Eglu Have you managed to reassemble it OK? Good luck with the chicken mixing/finding. I'll be interested to know how you get on.
emu
Well dear you are right about that.Looks like they will be coming either before chistmas or shortly afterwards!! With a bit of luck just awaiting the nod from the Orpington place who hopefully will let us have a girly.Once she nods then we are off, wild birds(well hens) won't stop us.Plus we have some family in derbyshire should we need to have a break. I didnt realise this would get us to be so impatient. The eglu has found its way into the garage for now but as soon as we hear the distant cluck of our orpie-to-be,DH will i am sure assemble it back again Will defo keep you posted
