Storms and chickens

Hi,

I have a pekin cockerel on his own ( due to the intervention of a fox) and I am hoping to get him some more hens for company but obviously this means that I will need another chicken house while they are getting acquainted. Can anyone suggest a cheap temporary chicken house?

second hand side boards can be converted with minimal diy and there's quite a lot of cheap ones on ebay or a dog kennel maybe- you could try freecycle.

2nd hand rabbit hutch or one of those 2nd hand small children's wooden playhouse?

 

Check out your local papers small ads or a freeads or even freecycle.

I just use a rabbit run. It is homemade so has a solid roof and one end is solid. I put them together at night.

Yes - I used an old dog box.

 

But assuming you haven't got something like that ...

 

Then I built a really cheap one out of plywood - took no time at all. I've got the plans - could scan them and email them to you if you want. It just needs some plywood and bits of timber. the ply is the costly bit, but you can use any old stuff if you've got it.

 

somebody on the forum posted piccies of one she built out of an old pallet and bits of s"Ooops, word censored!" wood. It was terrific.

Thanks for the suggestions. We've got two large rabbit hitches so I might try adapting them. The pallet idea sounds good but I'm not the most skilled individual and we might end up with 'Frankencoup'!
