5 Live Phone in this morning

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, Belated Happy New Year to you all (probs with internet access at moment :( )

Anyway this morning with Victoria on 5 Live they are talking about the new campaign by Jamie, Hugh and Gordon asking 'Why should we have cheap Chicken'

I'm looking forward to trying to spot the Omleteer on the phone-in :D

They just read a message from a 'Clare' - sounded like our Clare!!

The woman on now is doing my head in

I hold no truck with people who say they can't afford things because they are on a low income. I brought up two littlies on the lowest income allowed in this country - it all comes down to choices

is clare from harrogate?

ditto re the income thing, I'm speaking from experience. We did a deal with our local organic farm by buying in bulk, free range chicken goes further anyway as it's better quality and not pumped full of water. Cheap chicken shrinks as soon as it hits the pan!

i've mailed in but have to dash off, let me know if they read my mail out?

Dear Victoria

We re-homed 4 ex battery chickens in October, 2 of them were in fair condition with a few feathers missing but 2 were almost bald. They’re now getting their feathers back and starting to experience sun, fresh air and solid ground for the first time. They’re rewarding us with lots of lovely eggs which are far tastier than any egg you can buy, plus lots of lovely compost for our fruit and veg plot.

Please don’t tell me ALL farmers treat their birds well as I’ve had first hand of experience of birds in terrible condition. Let’s hear from one of those farmers who could perhaps explain how they can justify the birds ending up in such appalling condition and why?

Regards

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, all this 'low income' BS is really annoying me. I've mailed in again but I really do have to go, I have another docs appt this PM and can't afford to raise my blood pressure any more than it is!

Hope they read out at least one of my mails.

Dear Victoria

I am on incapacity benefit so we have to live on a budget in my house. However, I would become vegetarian before I would eat intensively reared, cheap broiler chicken. It amazes me that people can have so little empathy with a living creature that they don’t give a damn about what they put on their plate! There’s no excuse for buying cheap chicken, low income or not.
