crazygal
I have 3 gingernut rangers, how long on average will we have to wait for that elusive first egg?! And how did you celebrate- did you poach/scramble/boil etc etc?!!
Joojoo
Hi Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of chickens. We had our gingernut girls at the beginning of September and they all came into lay within about 3 weeks, although I think the dark days may have an impact on this. I'm sure someone will be along soon to confirm this. Jue
Chicken Licken
sounds about right to me. I got mine in Sept 06 and they lay pretty much all the time - although Clara is a bit erratic as she is moulting.
waders
Hi, My girls arrived mid December and Betty (gingernut) has from last weekend started laying daily. Her first egg was the weekend before last and I thought she was quite poorly! She wasn't bossing the others like normal and she laid it in the corner by our garage door! The second she laid in a washing up bowl in the outside sink! I worried that I would have to play hunt the egg but she is now laying in the Eglu. I had my first egg as a dippy egg with soldiers! It was EGGcellent! Someone on the forum suggested that if I wanted them soft-boiled then to wait a couple of days then the shell comes away more easily. Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome to the forum . Hope you're enjoying your chickens! I got my 3 early September. Two started laying end November aged 28 weeks, the other (2 wks older) laid 10 eggs in Sept/Oct but hasn't laid any since . It's a case of wait and see .
