Converting from Rabbit TO Chickens. Can it be done?

Recommended Posts

I saw an eglu on ebay here:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rabbit-Hutch-Housing-OMLET-EGLU-with-run_W0QQitemZ170186574254QQihZ007QQcategoryZ63513QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD4VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638.m124

It's been used for RABBITS.

I've noticed the rabbit and guineapig ones go for less and are not bid on so much. I also know Omlet do a conversion kit.

Has anyone done it and is the conversion as good as an original eglu for chickens?

I was wondering because the ebayers don't advertise the fact that it can be converted and put their listings in the poultry section as well.

Hello!

You can order a conversion kit from Omlet as its just the grey base unit that is different. You also get a pull out poop tray and roosting bars. I think the guinea pig run is smaller than the chicken run, but from what I can see on the ebay page, it looks like the standard chicken run.

Not sure how much the conversion kit is, but £60 comes to mind. Give them a call and ask, they are very helpful!

Hope you win it!

Hi,

You are right, they do go cheaper. Kit to convert (green eglu) cost £70 + £7 PP which can be purchased from Omlet shop.. I was looking at doing that myself but to be honest the 2 eglus I was watching ended up going for £210, which if you add £77, you might as well spend a little bit extra and get either a brand new one or a re-conditioned unit from Omlet.. and that's delivered to your door as well!..

Hope that helps,

Celine

Christian, I've put my name down for a recon Cube with Omlet but I've been watching what happens on ebay for a few weeks. I was just wondering really. I have a half hatched (geddit?! ) idea to add an Eglu to the cube set up at a later date but we're really not very well off, so I thought picking up a rabbit house & converting might be the way to go. I guess the few extra quid argument is valid though.
