free range?? Only on a Thursday!!

Recommended Posts

We usually manage to get three dinners (for 2-3 people), stock for soup and a big dish of fatty s"Ooops, word censored!"s for the cats out of a large Label Anglais. Even the little one we bought this weekend made a roast, a risotto, soup stock, a cold leg portion for my lunch, and some cat s"Ooops, word censored!"s. Not cheap at 11-12 quid, but they go a long way and we have the satisfaction of knowing the chicken led a happy life :)

It's great isnt it that thinks are starting to hit home about where your dinner comes from. I went to my local waitrose on the way home today and they had a good stock in so I bought some chicken breasts and a whole chicken. The chicken was about £7.80 ish which to be honest I dont think is that bad at all. Granted, its not 2 for a fiver but I think that if you were to buy a joint of beef for your sunday roast it would be about this price for a decent sized one. I think a lot of peoples eyes have been opened.

Well done you! Did you call it Linford?:lol:

How many meals did you get out of it?

It was huge, there will be many meals worth of meat Clare. I try to aim for around 4oz per person per meal of meat or protein, so will be eating 'Linford' until Easter probably :D

I gave it to mum to dissect, I am trying to wean her off cheap meat and ready meal curries(albeit good quality ones) She was horrified at the price but staggered by the size of the bird.

edited to add: It was £7 and weighed almost 6lb
