MrandMrsG
We had our first egg on Monday and today we have 2 more, it's brilliant, they're such clever girls I think we're on a roll and its sooooo exciting! Just a little problem with the 2 eggs laid today, they were both cracked on the pointy end of the egg, but I think it was because they both hit the plastic on entry into the nesting box x Rosie xx

Eyren
Great news! I usually put some shredded paper in the nestbox - it keeps the eggs cleaner and safer, as well as being cosier for the girls.
Ain't Nobody Here
Congrats, MrandMrsG . I put shredded paper and a bit of hemcore in the nestbox - not had any cracked eggs apart from one which was laid on the roosting bars (maybe there was a queue ). MrandMrsG
Yep, I put shredded paper in the nesting box too - trouble is they pull it all out and it all gets scattered in the garden We've decided to have poached eggs on toast tomorrow - and because Mr G's is bigger than me he'll be getting 2 eggs! MrandMrsG
It's a polite way of saying that he's more portly than me, and don't talk about his toasts, that's a very sensitive area
little chickadee
Enjoy the poached eggs, you'll be amazed how different they are when they are really fresh!

chickencam
We used to use shredded paper but got fed up with paper mache in the run so switched to wood shavings which are easy to scoop poop out of in the morning too
