TAJ
Silly question - of my three Rye started laying a couple of weeks ago no crouching (though she may have been laying when I got her and just stopped for two weeks when she arrived). Bella is now crouching all the time - does this just happen before they start laying, or is it something they continue to do once they start laying? - no sign of bossy nutmeg doing any crouching or laying as yet! Ain't Nobody Here
Yes, they continue crouching - mine all crouch even more now (and Maisie's developed a provocative little wiggle as she does it ).
nursechick
Both my chooks are laying every day and whenever I walk behind them they crouch down; which is great cos it makes it really easy to pick them up.Both started doing this about a week before their first egg arrived. Eyren
My Speckledy used to crouch whenever I went near her, but the bantams never do - maybe I'm too big to be mistaken for a bantam cockerel?
