Jules.
I'm half asleep as we had some kind of fracas in our street at 4.30am, not sure what yet, & it took me ages to nod off again. As some of you know I am attempting to make a TARDIS cake to go along with our church's holiday club, which is currently on, & has a Doctor Who theme. Tomorrow it's Joe's birthday, he leads the club, & on that day we are having a morning club for the children as usual, & a family fun night later on, with supper I offered to make a birthday cake which everyone on the night can share as a surprise-ssshh-and so I decided on a madeira cake, which I have had to make with wheat free flour, a first for me, as Joe is gluten intolerant. I made one 8 inch square cake on Mon, & the other is currently baking as I want to decorate the cake today. Anyhow, when I was cracking the first of my 3 eggs to go into a mug I chucked the egg contents into my compost bin container instead of my egg shell. I'm now cross with myself. i'll post piccies of the cake when it's done. ( I wanted the cake mixture to be blue like the icing will be, & isnstead it turned green. I should have thougfht that blue+yellow make green )
Cinnamon
Isn't it maddening - I did that last week too I actually cracked the egg on the top of the peely bin (little pot for the composting to go outside in), then broke the egg into the bin & threw the shell into the recipe
Lesley
How annoying! I think you'll find that blue colouring will react with the egg yolk yellow.....and get green It will still look, and taste, good.

Keanie Bean
My three year old dropped one on the floor the other day, she was so upset and spent the rest of the day apologising. Bless her she can be such a troll sometimes but at other times she is just so sweet and lovely. Sarah.x
